I work with UK and European fintechs as a fintech NED, payments non‑executive director and EMI non‑executive director, supporting FCA‑regulated firms, API payment services providers and licensed EMIs on governance, risk, compliance, strategy and growth.

I'm the founder of Inflective Partners. Alongside our advisory practice, I take on a small number of personal Non-Executive Director mandates each year.

Fintech Non‑Executive Director for Payments, EMIs and API Firms

As a fintech Non‑Executive Director, I provide independent challenge, regulatory confidence and strategic support to boards of payment services, EMI and API‑driven fintech companies across the UK and Europe.

I bring over a decade in financial services, payments and fintech, combining deep regulatory understanding with hands‑on founder experience in product, technology and commercial growth. This allows me to support boards as a true sparring partner on both governance and execution.

Regulatory and risk oversight for FCA‑regulated fintechs

I help fintech boards navigate the regulatory path in the UK, Switzerland and wider Europe, with a particular focus on FCA‑regulated EMIs, PIs and payment institutions.

Typical areas of contribution include:

  • Reviewing risk appetite, AML/CTF, safeguarding, operational resilience and conduct risk frameworks to ensure ongoing compliance with EMR, PSR and MLR requirements.

  • Providing oversight and independent challenge through the Risk & Compliance Committee, or chairing it where appropriate.

  • Supporting authorisation journeys such as API to EMI licence transitions, and liaising with regulators, auditors and key banking partners.

My board approach is “eyes on, hands off”: I do not run operations, but I do expect to see robust governance, transparent reporting and credible remediation plans where issues arise.

Beyond regulation and governance, I bring lived founder experience in building fintech products and technology. I understand the realities of roadmap trade‑offs, architecture choices and the complexity of scaling platforms in regulated environments.

I have previously served as an Executive Director and currently serve as a Non‑Executive Director, bringing a practical understanding of how boards and executive teams can work together at their best.
